Rashford Could break Rooney's record-says Mourinho

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has said Marcus Rashford could go on to surpass the scoring feats of Sir Bobby Charlton and Wayne Rooney at the club.

Rooney netted his 249th goal for United in their 4-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday, equalling the record set by Charlton who was watching from the main stand.

Rashford also scored a brace in the match.

“I don’t know the distances, really, but I think the ones that are close are players that left United already,” Mourinho said.

“So, especially in modern football I see it is really difficult. I don’t know, who knows?

“Marcus, he is 19. If he plays Man United until the end of his career, maybe Marcus can do it but Rooney scored a lot of goals”, he added.

Rashford only made his debut last February but has netted 14 times for United.
